Ayurvedic Massage (Abhyanga)
Abhyanga literally means "Oil Massage", but is also translated as "touched by loving hands". A generous amount of warm oil is applied for a nourishing experience for women which calms the nerves, balances hormones, reduces joint and muscle aches, aids sleep, enhances the complexion and the luster of the skin, eliminates impurities, increases circulation and nourishes all 7 layers of tissues in the body.
Postpartum Ayurvedic Massage
Ayurvedic massage after childbirth can greatly reduce or eliminate difficulties with lactation, colic, depression, weight, energy, hormones and more. Warm oil applied helps the mother to feel more whole, relaxed, strong, balanced and vital. More than just pampering, a woman should ideally receive or self apply warm oil daily for the first 42 days after childbirth to support purification and rejuvenation from pregnancy, birth, and all of the new responsibilities that come with a baby.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR WOMEN UP TO 6 WEEKS POSTPARTUM: Pay an extra $25 ($20 for packages) for me to come to your house. You don't have to leave the comfort of your home, and can keep baby close by if She/He needs you. For maximum benefit, it is best to take a warm bath, followed by a nap after the massage.
Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.
Thai Massage is thought to have been created by the physician of the Buddha as a technique designed for Monks and Nuns, but has been passed down through families, and practiced as a major healing modality in Thailand for over 2500 years. Using my hands, knees, legs, and feet, I move you into a series of yoga-like postures and facilitated stretches, and work acupressure points. No oil is applied, and you are fully dressed during the session, though sometimes warm compresses or salves are used for added relaxation. Thai massage releases stress and relieves pain, energizes and enlivens you, and helps you to function more effectively at work, home, and play.
Deep Tissue Massage
In this session, I will incorporate multiple therapeutic modalities including Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, and Muscle Energy Techniques to relieve tension and pain with the aim of treating acute injuries and/or releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you are comfortable, and that the treatment is effective. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the massage, and that plenty of water should be consumed to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released during the session.
Hot Stone Therapy
Heated river stones are placed on specific areas of your body and used to lovingly massage your entire body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation. Muscle aches, tension, and stress melt away under the soothing warmth of the stones, leaving you feeling nurtured and rejuvenated.
Herbal Poultice Add On
Hand wrapped herbal balls filled with traditional Thai herbs and spices including lemongrass, turmeric, parai, kaffier lime, camphor and tamarind, are heated and used to soothe achy joints and sore muscles. Traditionally used in Thai Massage, these poultices make a great addition to any massage! (Not recommended for Abhyanga.) Infant Massage Class
In this class you will learn simple massage techniques that promote the healthy development of your baby, and promote parent infant bonding. Caring human touch is crucial for a healthy, thriving baby, and the benefits of massaging your infant are potent and numerous. For example, many infants show improved growth and development of the brain and nervous system. Infant massage has also been shown to improve the quality of a baby's sleep, as well as strengthening their immune system. You and your baby will come to anticipate and cherish this special time together!
Couples Massage Class
Come with your special someone to learn basic massage techniques that can heighten your sensitivity and presence with one another. In this private class scheduled at a time that works for both of you, I will give you and your parter a basic outline of a routine that you can use in the privacy of your own home, adding your own personal touch. You will also learn some helpful tips on setting the mood, reading your partners signals, establishing clear communication, and some simple things you can do that will go a long way! Special consideration can be given for pervious injuries, or cronic areas of pain and tension. No prior massage experience is necessary- only an open mind and a loving heart!
